A popular Nigerian actress collapses and dies suddenly at the age of 48.
Reports say that Ada Ameh passed away unexpectedly on July 17 after collapsing.
President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas confirmed the report that Ada Ameh died on Sunday at a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) hospital in Delta State, as reported by Pop Culture.
“Ameh reportedly collapsed suddenly while a guest of an oil company toyshop and his family, and despite being rushed to the NNPC hospital, [she] died before they could reach the medical facility. Ameh first stepped into the spotlight while playing Anita in the 1996 film Domitilla before solidifying her star status with her comedic characters and her role in The Johnsons,” the outlet reported.
Emeka Rollas told PUNCH news in a phone call that there is currently no known information regarding the death’s cause.
“The NNPC hospital, Warri, is yet to make public the autopsy report of the likely cause or causes of Adah Ameh’s sudden death,” per PUNCH news. “Also, the police public relations officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for comments at the time of filing this report.”
It was reported that the actress was also struggling with challenges related to her mental health after the death of her daughter 2 years ago.
Before her passing Ada posted on her Instagram account. “Happy new week fams. This trip for my friends elder sister, is just an enjoyment gallow!!! Thanks my darling sister Phil. I really enjoyed myself!! God bless my love May dreams come true in Jesus Christ name,” the caption read.
The streaming service Netflix has expressed its condolences to the Nollywood actress.
“Ada Ameh was a thorough professional who devoted her years to entertaining us. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and colleagues at this time. May she rest in power.”
