California Governor Gavin Newsom Runs Campaign Ad–in Florida; First Shot in 2024 Presidential Campaign?

The reelection campaign of Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom is scheduled to run campaign ads on cable TV networks in Florida on Monday, reportedly on the Fox News Channel. The Fourth of July ad buy targeting Florida and the state’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis (though not be name) is seen as testing the waters for a potential 2024 presidential run by Newsom.

It’s Independence Day so let’s talk about what’s going on in America.

Freedom. It’s under attack in your state. Republican leaders, they’re banning books, making it harder to vote, restricting speech in classrooms, even criminalizing women and doctors.

I urge all of you living in Florida to join the fight or join us in California.

But we still believe in freedom freedom of speech, freedom to choose, freedom from hate and the freedom to love.

Don’t let them take your freedom.

Paid for by Newsom for California governor 2022.

Newson also posted the video to Twitter with the message, “We’re about to celebrate Independence Day — but Freedom is under attack by Republican leaders in states like Florida. Banning books. Restricting speech. Making it harder to vote. Criminalizing women and doctors.
It’s time to stand up. Don’t let them take your freedom.”

Medium Buying, a campaign ad tracking site, reported the cable buy at $105,000.

California native Tammy Bruce observed, “MHO, he’s using CA campaign money to begin his natl campaign for president. Likely a test to see which numbers move and where his strengths are in FL. The smug arrogance of these people never ends. He destroys CA, he’s incompetent & an ass & he thinks he deserves a promotion.”

With Joe Biden and fellow Californian Kamala Harris tanking in the polls, Newsom is one of several Democrat governors who are reportedly considering presidential runs in 2024 including Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker and Colorado Governor Jared Polis.
