Florida Authorities Say Six Members of Haiti Delegation Team in Special Olympics Games are Missing

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a case after six members of the Haitian soccer team in the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Florida went missing.

According to the sheriff’s office, the six missing soccer team members were last seen on June 6 after they turned in their room keys and left their belongings behind.

As of this time, authorities believe this is an isolated case, and foul play is not suspected.

The sheriff’s office shared the information concerning the six members who disappeared on Monday on their official Facebook page. According to the post, the missing individuals were all men between 18 and 32.

The missing members are Atione Joseph Mithon, 32; Nicholson Fontilus, 20; Peter Mianovich Berlus, 19; Anderson Petit-Frere, 18; Steevenson Jacquet, 24 and Oriol Jean, 18.

“We are in communication with Walt Disney World, Special Olympics, and our Law Enforcement and Federal partners,” the sheriff’s office announced. “At this time, we believe this is an isolated event and do not suspect foul play. We are asking anyone with information to please contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.”

According to a statement from the Special Olympics USA Games, five of the adults were not Special Olympics athletes and the sixth was an adult with an intellectual disability, WFTV reported.

“The well-being of these delegates is our foremost concern,” Special Olympics USA Games said in an email. “Local authorities have indicated they have no reason to believe the health and safety of any of the individuals is at risk. To expand the reach and effectiveness of law enforcement’s efforts to locate these individuals, they have been reported as missing persons.”

The adults were last seen at 710 S. Victory Way in Kissimmee around 2:30 p.m. Monday.
