Last week John Catanzara, the head of Chicago’s police union, advised police officers NOT to comply with the city’s COVID-19 mandatory vaccine and reporting requirements.
Catanzara told fellow officers to openly defy Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s vaccine deadline.
On Sunday the City of Chicago upped its battle with police officers over the mandated COVID vaccine. The City of Chicago issued a statement Sunday night threatening the retirement benefits of officers who opt to retire from the force rather than submit to Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s COVID vaccine mandate and reporting system.
And on Monday Mayor Lori Lightfoot accused the police of “attempting to induce an insurrection” by not getting the experimental vaccine.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot: So you ask the question, “Why a lawsuit?” Because we believe that the FOP leadership is trying to foment an illegal work stoppage, pure and simple. We lay that out in the materials and we’re not having that… What we’ve seen from the Fraternal Order of Police, particularly the leadership, is a lot of misinformation, a lot of half-truths and frankly flat-out lies in order to induce an insurrection.
Wow.
