American Airlines canceled an additional 634 flights on Sunday, or 12% of its total operations for the day.
More than 1,500 flights total have been canceled since Friday and the airliner is blaming ‘weather issues and staffing shortages.’

“With additional weather throughout the system, our staffing begins to run tight as crew members end up out of their regular flight sequences,” American said in a statement to CNN on Saturday.
American Airlines told workers they must be fully vaccinated against Covid by November 24 or face termination.

According to the pilot union at American, 30% – or 4,200 – of airline’s pilots are still not vaccinated for Covid.
Now the airliner is being forced to cancel flights due to staffing shortages and “high wind gusts” near their busiest hub.

Earlier this month Southwest Airlines was forced to cancel thousands of flights which cost them $75 million after pilots boycotted their vaccine mandate.
