The segment covered Adolf Hitler’s rise and fall in Germany.
At the end of the show, Steves warned viewers of current fascists who like Hitler pose a threat to the global community. Steves then included video of Victor Orban of Hungary, Marine le Pen of France, and Matteo Salvini of Italy, populist leaders with enormous appeal.
PBS also included Turkey’s modern-day tyrant Recep Tayyip Erdogan for good measure.
