California – Three people are dead and 27 others were taken to hospitals on Sunday after a smuggling boat capsized off the San Diego coast.
The San Diego Fire Department said it pulled 25 people from the water Sunday morning.

Three people died at the scene and 27 people were transported to hospitals with “varying degrees of injuries,” Homeland Security spokesman Jose Ysea said.
Nearly 100 personnel were assigned to the rescue, including medics, lifeguards, firefighters, US Coast Guard and other local agencies.
According to The San Diego Tribune, the group was riding in a panga, a smaller fishing boat often used by smugglers to transport illegal aliens across the border.
