Get Vaxxed, Get Laid? Biden Admin Partners with Dating Apps for COVID Vaccination Badges on Profiles and Exclusive Features

The Biden White House Covid Task Force announced a partnership with several leading dating apps Friday to encourage young people to get vaccinated by promoting profile badges that display vaccination status and boosts to accounts.

The dating apps and their vax perks as reported by Axios:

Tinder: Members will be able to add stickers to their profile including “Getting Vaxed” or “Vaccines Save Lives.” Those who get vaccinated will get a “Super Like” to raise their chances of being seen by a desired match.

OkCupid: Daters will be able to add an “I’m Vaccinated” profile badge, and those who are vaccinated will get a free “boost” and can choose to be paired with others who are also vaccinated.

Bumble and Badoo will enable U.S. customers to add a “vaccinated” badge to their profiles. Both apps will give credit toward premium features such as Spotlights and “Superswipes.”

BLK, a site for Black singles, will add a new “Vaxified” profile badge and give a free “boost” to those who get vaccinated and display the badge.

Chispa, the largest dating app for Latino singles, will add a new “Vacunado” profile badge option and also give a free “boost” to those who are vaccinated.

Hinge will encourage users to share their vaccination status on their profiles and give vaccinated users a free “Rose” — Hinge’s way to show extra interest.

Match: Members will have the option to add a new “Vaccinated” badge and give those who are vaccinated a free “Boost” to help them stand out on the app.

Plenty of Fish: Members will be able to add an “I Got My Shot” badge to their profiles in early June. Those who do so can receive 20 Live! credits to use on the Plenty of Fish Live! streaming feature.

A Biden White House staffer told everyone she met her fiancé on Hinge.

People Magazine reports this is a win-win for the Biden admin and the dating apps:

“The campaigns are set to launch May 24 and run through July 4 and, by all indications, will be mutually beneficial for both the White House — which has a goal of seeing 70% of American adults vaccinated by the Independence Day holiday — as well as the app users themselves.”

Proof of vaccination for the promotion appears to be on the honor system, as no mention is readily apparent in reports or press releases.

“Human connection is so vital for healthy lives — it’s why I am so committed to this business,” said Shar Dubey, CEO of Match Group. “We are honored to work with the White House on increasing vaccinations across America, which will allow people to once again meet in person and engage in meaningful ways. This will make dating safer for everyone, everywhere.”

For many users across Match Group’s dating platforms, COVID-19 vaccinations are seen as a necessary step for singles to be able to date safely in person. Users this year have proactively posted about their vaccine status and say they view this as an important component of compatibility.
