BREAKING: GOP Florida Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart, 58, is the first member of the House or Senate to test positive for the Coronavirus.

Members from both chambers have self-quarantined after potential exposure to others with the virus, Fox News reporter Chad Pergram said on Wednesday evening.

“On Saturday evening, Congressman Diaz-Balart developed symptoms, including a fever and a headache. Just a short while ago, he was notified that he has tested positive for COVID-19,” the Congressman said in a statement.

“While in quarantine Diaz-Balart has been working from his apartment in DC.”

“I want you to know that I am feeling much better,” Díaz-Balart said in a statement. “However, it is important that everyone take this extremely seriously and follow CDC guidelines in order to avoid getting sick and mitigate the spread of this virus”
