Another Democrat lawmaker is facing an ethics investigation for an improper relationship with a staffer!
83-year-old Democrat Rep. Alcee Hastings (FL) is under investigation for allegations of an improper relationship with one of his congressional staffers, the House Ethics Committee announced Thursday.
“The Committee is aware off public allegations arising out off Representative Alcee Hastings’ personal relationship with an individual employed in his congressional office,” the committee said in a press release.
The investigation into Hastings was opened May 14, according to the press release.
“I have cooperated with the Committee since May 14, 2019. As they continue to conduct their work, I stand ready to fully cooperate with their inquiry,” Hastings said in a statement Thursday.
Hastings has openly admitted to being in a relationship with his staffer, Patricia Williams, who serves as his deputy district director in Broward County, Florida.
Rep. Hastings has a long history of corruptions going back to the 1980’s.
In 1988 Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury. He was then convicted in 1989 by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be impeached and removed from office by the Senate.
Hastings was also previously accused by a female staffer of making unwanted sexual advances toward her — in other words, Hastings is the perfect Democrat.
