Exclusive: Iranian Hack of Israeli Candidate for Prime Minister Benny Gantz Included Messages with Mistress

On Tuesday Israelis will go to the polls to elect their Prime Minister.

Lieutenant General (ret.) Benny Gantz, the ex-Chief of Staff of the IDF, is running against the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Polls show the race is tight. Gantz’s Israel Resilience Party is currently behind Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud Party.

In March it was widely reported that Gantz’s personal cellphone was hacked by the Iranian regime.

Security Affairs reported:

According to the Israeli intelligence, the cyber spies hacked the
Gantz’s mobile device putting “his personal details and addresses in hostile hands.”

“The cellphone of Benny Gantz, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s biggest rival and the chair of the political alliance Kahol Lavan, was hacked by Iranian intelligence, Israel’s Channel 12 reported Thursday evening.” reported the Haaretz website.

According to Gantz’s staff, the hackers aimed at damaging his political campaign by leaking the stolen data just weeks before Israel’s April 9 elections “raises important questions.”

Now according to several Israeli sources the security breach of the cellphone of Benny Gantz was more serious than first reported. A major Israeli security agency possesses this information.  The Iranian regime was able to collect personal details and addresses from Gantz’s phone. And, according to at least three sources in Israel, the Iranian regime allegedly hacked into Gantz’s gmail account and obtained messages between Gantz and his mistress. According to these sources Iran was able to obtain communications between Gantz and his contacts going back to at least 2014.  The year is instructive because that same year Gantz as chief of staff of the IDF led Operation Protective Edge which was a major campaign against the terrorist infrastructure within the Gaza Strip.  If true this information could be used by Iran to blackmail Gantz.

According to the sources there was no classified information lost in the hack  by Iran.

One solid Israeli source told The Gateway Pundit on Sunday, “Yes, he was hacked and they downloaded his messages with his mistress.”
