DUD: New York Times Forced To Add Correction To ‘Bombshell’ Kavanaugh Smear Article

Now it’s just getting embarrassing.

The New York Times has been pumping out fake news for years, but in the latest debacle, America’s “paper of record” took another major hit to its waning reputation.

The Times on Saturday ran a piece in which former Yale student and Kavanaugh classmate Max Stier claimed that in the 1980s, Kavanaugh had dropped his pants at a college party, prompting others there to grab Kavanaugh’s penis and push it into the hand of a female.

The story, though, omitted one major fact: Friends of the supposed alleged victim told the book authors that she doesn’t remember a thing about the alleged incident.

So The Times put out a correction.

“An earlier version of this article, which was adapted from a forthcoming book, did not include one element of the book’s account regarding an assertion by a Yale classmate that friends of Brett Kavanaugh pushed his penis into the hand of a female student at a drunken dorm party,” The Times wrote in a correction Monday. “The book reports that the female student declined to be interviewed and friends say that she does not recall the incident. That information has been added to the article.”

The allegation came from  the yet-to-be-released book “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,” by reporters Robin Pogebrin and Kate Kelly.

Within hours, Democrats, including Sens. Kamala Harris, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, all running for president in 2020,  called for Kavanaugh to be impeached.

In another embarrassing episode, the newspaper’s opinion Twitter page tweeted on Saturday: “Having a penis thrust in your face at a drunken dorm party may seem like harmless fun. But when Brett Kavanaugh did it to her, Deborah Ramirez says, it confirmed she did not belong at Yale in the first place.”

Minutes later, the paper pulled the tweet, writing: “We have deleted an earlier tweet to this article that was poorly phrased.”

They later deleted even that tweet and posted another: “We deleted a previous tweet regarding this article. It was offensive, and we apologize.”

Pathetic.
