David Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, also known as “El Presidente” by his followers, dropped in on Communist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday and challenged her to a debate over unions.
Earlier Tuesday, Portnoy fired off a series of tweets hammering unions and linked to a 2015 blog post where he said if any of his own employees dared to unionize, he would “smash their little union to smithereens.”
Rafi Letzter, a Life and Science writer, challenged Portnoys employees and told them to “DM” him if they want to chat about the unionization process.
Portnoy, who is known for his sarcastic and fiery commentary shot back and threatened to can any employees who DM Letzter — of course his tweet may have been a joke.
But AOC took Portnoy’s tweet seriously and called him out.
If you’re a boss tweeting firing threats to employees trying to unionize, you are likely breaking the law &can be sued,in your words, “on the spot.”
ALL workers in the US have the protected freedom to organize for better conditions.

Donald Trump Jr. jumped into the fray.
Picking a fight with @stoolpresidente and @barstoolsports is probably the biggest mistake @AOC has ever made on Twitter. https://t.co/hp7gF2DECc

“When will Alexandria O’CRAZIO Cortez learn not to tangle with our countries Presidents?” Portnoy said in response to Don Jr.
