President Trump was interrupted by a Democrat member of Virginia’s House of Delegates during a speech Tuesday marking the 400th anniversary of the first meeting of the Virginia legislature in Jamestown in 1619–the first representative legislative assembly in the Western Hemisphere.
Delegate Ibraheem Samirah stood near the front of the stage facing the audience, holding several signs strung together and yelling, “Mr. President, you can’t send us back, Virginia is our home!”, as supporters of the President booed and chanted, “Trump! Trump! Trump!”
The messages on the signs read, “Go Back to Your Corrupted Home”, “Deport Hate” and “Reunite My Family And All Shattered by Systemic Discrimination”.
Samirah’s protest was peaceful and he did not resist or act out when police escorted him out of the venue. Trump did not comment about the protest during the speech.
Samirah, elected earlier this year at age 27 in a special election to represent the Northern Virginia town of Herndon, describes himself on Twitter as: “Dentist. Activist-Organizer. Representing the people of the 86th district as the youngest Virginia State Delegate & youngest American Muslim legislator anywhere”
(Note: During the campaign Samirah released a statement apologizing to his Jewish supporters for comments he made on Facebook as a college student.)

This video is sideways, but the audio captures the loud response by the audience much clearer than the ABC video:

Samirah posted to Twitter soon after the protest, “Unbelievable that such a momentous celebration would be interrupted by a racist old man who needs to go back where he came from. #DeportHate”

Samirah posted a press release with this statement: “I just disrupted the @realDonaldTrump speech in Jamestown because nobody’s racism and bigotry should be excused for the sake of being polite. The man is unfit for office and unfit to partake in a celebration of democracy, representation, and our nation’s history of immigrants.”
Samirah notes in the press release he is the son of Palestinian refugees.

In the press release, Samirah accused Trump of everything except killing babies who survive abortion.
Samirah followed with some background information about his father being denied reentry to the U.S. after 9/11.
“For those of you who don’t know, I was born in Chicago after my family of Palestinian refugees came to America to flee discrimination. In 2002, my family was forced to literally “go back” after my father was denied re-entry to the US, following a visit to sick relatives in Jordan”
“I’m sure @realDonaldTrump would rather I stayed overseas, but I came back, got an education, ran for office and am now fighting for my constituents, who overwhelmingly reject his racism. I will always disrupt pomp and circumstance to stand up for what’s right. #DeportHate”
