The House Judiciary Committee on Friday asked a federal judge to unseal the grand jury material related to Mueller’s investigation.
The court filing was used to declare that the Democrats in the House have launched an ‘impeachment investigation’ of President Trump.
House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler, who was still licking his wounds after Mueller went down in flames like the Hindenburg, effectively side-stepped Speaker Pelosi and the ongoing debate within the caucus by beginning an impeachment inquiry.
The Dem-led panel told a judge that it needs access to Mueller’s grand-jury evidence — such as witness testimony — because it is “investigating whether to recommend articles of impeachment” against Trump, the New York Times reported.
“Because Department of Justice policies will not allow prosecution of a sitting president, the United States House of Representatives is the only institution of the federal government that can now hold President Trump accountable for these actions,” the filing tells the judge, Beryl A. Howell, who supervised Mr. Mueller’s grand jury.
Referring to the part in the Constitution that gives Congress the power to impeach and remove a president, it continued: “To do so, the House must have access to all the relevant facts and consider whether to exercise all its full Article I powers, including a constitutional power of the utmost gravity — approval of articles of impeachment.”
Nadler held a presser Friday afternoon where he announced his committee is taking legal action to ‘hold Trump accountable.’
“Too much has been made of the phrase ‘an impeachment inquiry,’” Nadler said at a presser Friday. “We are doing what our court filing says we are doing, what I said we are doing, and that is we are using our full Article I powers to investigate the conduct of the president and to consider what remedies there are. Among other things we will consider obviously is whether to recommend articles of impeachment.”
Nadler even lied to reporters about Mueller’s exchange with Rep. Ted Lieu claiming that the former special counsel said if not for DOJ guidelines that a sitting president cannot be indicted, Trump would have been charged with a crime.
Nadler left out the fact that later on Mueller walked back his statement and admitted he had misspoken.
Mueller corrected the record and said his team did not determine whether Trump committed a crime.

Last week the House overwhelmingly voted against impeaching Trump.
Al Green’s articles of impeachment was dead on arrival last Wednesday afternoon because the Democrat-controlled House voted to kill the resolution.
332 “Yeas” to 95 “Nays” to kill the impeachment resolution.
If impeachment somehow makes it through the House, it will be doomed as soon as it reaches the Republican-controlled Senate.
