Some Flames Did Something? Ilhan Omar Posts Statement on Notre Dame Fire That Avoids Mention of Church Named for Virgin Mary or Even That It Is a Catholic Cathedral

Some flames did something?

Prominent Muslim Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) posted a statement Monday evening on the catastrophic fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France that failed to use the name of the cathedral or even mention that it is a church–or a Catholic church. Notre Dame is French for Our Lady and is a Catholic name for the Virgin Mary, Mother of God who gave birth to Jesus.

Omar instead described how art and architecture connect people, denigrating Notre Dame as an art museum.”Art and architecture have a unique ability to help us connect across our differences and bring people together in important ways. Thinking of the people of Paris and praying for every first responder trying to save this wonder.”

No one sings Ave Maria when an art museum goes up in flames.
