BREAKING: Former Senator John Kyl to Replace John McCain in Senate
Former Arizona Senator John Kyl will replace John McCain in the US Senate.
John McCain’s widow Cindy McCain made the announcement minutes ago on Twitter.
This was a safe choice for the Arizona governor.
Kyl is well liked by McCain RINOs and Trump Republicans.
UPDATE: Cindy McCain posted this 20 minutes ago and has since removed it.
John Kyl is a dear friend of mine and John’s. It’s a great tribute to John that he is prepared to go back into public service to help the state of Arizona.

Kyl’s only committed to serve in the AZ Senate seat through the end of this Congress, noon on January 3, 2019. If Kyl leaves, AZ Gov Ducey could appoint someone else. Be Kyl or someone else…that person can only occupy McCain’s old Senate seat through noon, January 3, 2021.

Under Arizona law, there’s no need to have a special election for AZ seat until until Nov, 2020. Whoever is elected then can serve out the balance of McCain’s unexpired term – until January 3 at noon, 2023. There will be an election for the full six-year term in November, 2022.
