In 1988 Alcee Hastings was impeached for bribery and perjury.
Hastings was then convicted in 1989 by the United States Senate, becoming the sixth federal judge in the history of the United States to be removed from office by the Senate.

In 2011 Hastings was sued for sexual harassment.
Today Rep. Alcee Hastings is a top Democrat in the US House of Representatives.
This weekend at a rally in Florida Alcee Hastings cracked a joke about President Trump drowning in the Potomac.
Alcee Hastings: “Do you know the difference between a crisis and a catastrophe? A crisis is if Donald Trump falls into the Potomac River and can’t swim. And a catastrophe is anybody saves his ass.’”
