Hallelujah! American Christian Pastor Released After 21 Months in Turkish Prison *Updated*

Pastor Andrew Brunson

AMEN! An attorney for Trump, Jay Sekulow confirmed Wednesday that Pastor Andrew Brunson, an American from North Carolina, was finally released from a Turkish prison after he was arrested 21 months ago for the crime of “Christianization.”

And Turkey is supposed to be an ally to the United States??

Jay Sekulow and the ACLJ have been working and praying around the clock fighting for the release of Andrew Brunson.

Brunson is now in his home in Turkey under house arrest; Sekulow is working to have him fully released to come back to the US.

Update: The President threatened Turkey with “large sanctions” if they did not fully release Brunson:

The United States will impose large sanctions on Turkey for their long time detainment of Pastor Andrew Brunson, a great Christian, family man and wonderful human being. He is suffering greatly. This innocent man of faith should be released immediately!

Via the ACLJ:

In a major development, American Pastor Andrew Brunson has been moved from the Turkish prison to his house in Turkey.

The ACLJ represents the family of Pastor Andrew – a U.S. citizen from Black Mountain, North Carolina – who has spent nearly 21 months imprisoned in Turkey because of his Christian faith.  Pastor Andrew has been on trial for the crime of “Christianization,” and the ACLJ has been working in this country and abroad to secure his freedom.

We have confirmed that the Turkish government has issued an order releasing Pastor Andrew from prison and allowing him to be returned to his home in Turkey. This is a critical first step that we believe will result in the freedom of Pastor Andrew so he can return to the United States and be reunited with his family.

The President has played a critical role in securing the freedom of Pastor Andrew.  We have worked closely with the President on this matter and are grateful for his efforts.  We look forward to the ultimate release of Pastor Andrew.

In the ACLJ’s representation of Pastor Andrew’s family, we have mobilized our international resources – including ACLJ-affiliated offices in the region –seeking Pastor Andrew’s freedom. The ACLJ launched a global campaign to generate awareness of Pastor Andrew’s plight and called on the U.S. State Department, as well as international organizations – including the United Nations as well as NATO member countries – to demand Turkey – a NATO member – release Pastor Andrew.

The ACLJ has been advocating for the protection of Christians and other religious minorities for years. The ACLJ also has been very active in working to bring an end to the persecution of Christians taking place in many parts of the world.

We will keep you updated as the situation progresses. Please continue to pray for Pastor Andrew and his family.

Thank you, Jay Sekulow, the entire team at ACLJ and for everyone’s prayers to have Pastor Andrew Brunson released from the Turkish prison.

Last week President Trump called on Erdogan to release Pastor Brunson.

Trump tweeted: A total disgrace that Turkey will not release a respected U.S. Pastor, Andrew Brunson, from prison. He has been held hostage far too long. @RT_Erdogan should do something to free this wonderful Christian husband & father. He has done nothing wrong, and his family needs him!
