Is special counsel Robert Mueller running out of time to prove President Trump colluded with Russia to win the White House? While many argue the probe should have never existed, one Republican Congressman is saying he believes Mueller’s time is nearly up.
Washington Times reports:
Rep. Francis Rooney said Thursday he believes it could soon be time for special counselor Robert Mueller to bring an end to his Russian probe. […]
“Unfortunately for Mr. Mueller, despite his great reputation, he hasn’t found anything that we know about yet, so if they don’t find something they need to wrap it up,” Mr. Rooney, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, said on CNN.
Pressed on the fact that Mr. Mueller indicted 13 Russians for meddling in the election, has filed charges against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and received a guilty plea with former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates, Mr. Rooney said that “is not nothing, but it is not what the investigation was set up to do.”
“He hasn’t found collusion or successful interference, he has just found that the Russian’s tried, and I think we need to have these sanctions that the president signed and the House and Senate passed last summer show them that there is a price to pay for that,” he said.
As calls for Mueller to wrap up his probe grow louder due to a lack of evidence, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) recently admitted that zero proof of collusion has been found.
Schiff has been a key figure in the Trump/Russia witch hunt since day one, writes John S. Roberts at Right Observer.
While on “The View,” Schiff admitted what everyone has known for quite a while – there is no evidence of collusion.
From The Federalist:
Rep. Adam Schiff conceded Thursday there is still no evidence President Trump or his campaign colluded with Russia to win the election, and made a point of distancing himself from any charges of treason against the president.
Schiff has been driving the Trump-Russia collusion narrative on behalf of his party for months from his seat on the House Intelligence Committee, claiming recently he has seen “more than circumstantial” evidence of collusion. But he offered nothing substantial to back up his claim when pressed on “The View” to get specific, and acknowledged hard proof of collusion may never materialize, even after an intensive and months-long investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.
Fox News Insider has more:
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice delivered a blunt message to Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif) when both appeared on “The View” Thursday.
Rice expressed the hope that the House Intelligence Committee will soon conclude its investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.
“I appreciate what you’re doing for the country, but I really hope you can wrap it up. The country needs to get back to business, so that’s my greatest hope is that this gets done,” she told Schiff.
Time to move on, yes?
More pressing matters at hand?
Yet, it’s difficult to imagine the probe will come to an end anytime soon.
CNN reported Wednesday that investigators are attempting to determine whether former Blackwater chief Erik Prince misled the House Intelligence Committee about a meeting he had in Seychelles in January of 2017.
Prince is accused of using the meeting as an opportunity to establish a secret back channel with Russia.
