An ISIS-affiliated group is behind the attack.
Haaretz reported:
MENA, a state news agency, reported that ISIS-affiliated militants are suspected of perpetrating the attack, which targeted a mosque frequented by Sufis, members of Islam’s mystical movement, in the north Sinai town of Bir al-Abd. Islamic militants, including the local ISIS branch, consider Sufis heretics because of their less literal interpretations of the faith.
