RUMBLINGS: White House Floating Possible Replacement For Rex Tillerson?

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson might be on the way out of the State Department if White House officials have their way. Tillerson reaffirming his commitment to carrying out the duties of the highest ranking U.S. diplomat might not be enough to save his job. A new report by Mike Allen and Johnathan Swan claim CIA boss Mike Pompeo is being floated as a possible replacement for Tillerson.

Axios reports:

Trump advisers and allies are floating the idea of replacing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, age 53 — someone who’s already around the table in the Situation Room, and could make the switch without chaos.

We’re told that Trump is quite comfortable with Pompeo, asking his advice on topics from immigration to the inner workings of Congress.

Pompeo personally delivers the President’s Daily Brief, making him one of the few people Trump spends a great deal of time with on a daily basis.

Pompeo is one of the few in the administration who knows how to convey tough news to the president, and how to push back without turning DJT off. (SecDef Mattis is good at that, too.)
Trump doesn’t see Pompeo as a showboat.

On Wednesday NBC News released a scandalous report on Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and his reported frustration with President Trump.

NBC claimed Tillerson called Presidnet Trump a “moron” and considered leaving the administration.

On Wednesday Secretary of State Rex Tillerson held a press conference and said he has no intention of quitting. He also said he did not call the president a “moron” as NBC reported. Tillerson added, “The vice president never had to persuade me to remain as Secretary of State because I have never considered leaving this post.”

Las Vegas, President Trump chimed in on the NBC reporting calling it fake news.

President Trump: I’m very honored by his comments. It was fake news. It was a total phony story. Thank you very much.
