BREAKING NEWS: POTUS Trump Ending DACA Program “As it Currently Exists”

Fox News is reporting President Trump is set to end DACA program “as it currently exists.”

Per Fox News:

President Trump is expected to announce, as early as Friday, plans to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which stops young illegal immigrants from being deported, a senior administration official tells Fox News.

According to the official, Trump is expected to announce the program’s end but still allow the so-called “dreamers” currently in the program to stay in the U.S. until their work permits expire – which, for some, could be as long as two years.

The program, also known as DACA, was formed through executive order by Obama in 2012 and allows for certain people who came to the U.S. illegally as minors to be protected from immediate deportation.

Recipients are able to request “consideration of deferred action” for a period of two years which is subject to renewal.

As TGP previously reported, rumors swirled all week that President Trump was seriously considering ending Obama’s DACA program. NBC News reported Trump is very likely to end it once and for all.

Via NBC News:

President Donald Trump appears likely to pull the plug on DACA, the Obama-era program allowing young people who came to the U.S. illegally as children to remain here, several government officials said Friday.

Administration officials said the Department of Homeland Security sent a recommendation to the White House earlier this week on what to do, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions discussed the program with senior officials Thursday at the White House. Sessions has been a consistent opponent of the program, formally known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

As many as 1 million immigrants could be affected.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Friday that the program “continues to be under review.”

As TGP reported Thursday, a new report by Axios says President Trump is “seriously considering” ending DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals). The move would yield high praise from President Trump’s base and draw ire from his detractors. One thing is for certain – both sides would agree the move would erase a chunk of former President Obama’s legacy.

Wednesday, POLITICO reported President Trump is exercising a high level of caution when it comes to his decision on DACA. Red states may sue the administration if the law is not reversed.

POLITICO reports:

Ten conservative states have threatened to sue the administration in order to kill off the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, a 2012 initiative that has granted work permits to nearly 800,000 young undocumented immigrants. They’re trying to replicate their legal tactic from more than two years ago, when a broader coalition of GOP-led states successfully stopped a more expansive program for millions of undocumented immigrants before it even began.
