The U.S. military released a statement Thursday announcing the first battlefield use of the most potent non-nuclear bomb in America’s arsenal, the MOAB, against ISIS in Afghanistan, keeping President Trump’s campaign promise to “Bomb the sh*t” out of ISIS. The bomb was dropped on a network of ISIS tunnels in Nangarhar Province where a Green Beret was killed last weekend.
The Pentagon released a statement Monday on the combat death:
Staff Sgt. Mark R. De Alencar.
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Staff Sgt. Mark R. De Alencar, 37, of Edgewood, Maryland, died April 8 in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his unit came in contact with enemy forces using small arms fire during combat operations.
De Alencar was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.
