Vladimir Putin addressed the country in his State of the Nation address Thursday.
Putin justified Russia’s annexation of Crimea by explaining its spiritual significance,
“Crimea has a great spiritual, cultural importance like the Temple Mount in Jerusalem for jews and muslims. That’s how will be our attitude to it from now on and forever.”
It was a holy takeover.
