FOX NEWS is reporting that they have heard from several sources that Gaddafi has been shot to death but they have been unable to corroborate. Stay tuned.

Traders said oil prices fell by more than $2 a barrel in late Thursday activity on rumors Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi had been shot. There was no immediate indication of where the rumor had originated or any news report to substantiate it.

UPDATE: The U.S. government says it has no reason to believe that Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is dead.
UPDATE: Colonel Gaddafi has ringed the capital with his best and most loyal forces, and they are unlikely to relinquish it without a mighty battle. It’s too difficult at this point to know if the rumor is true or not. The Muslim Brotherhood issued a fatwa against Gaddafi earlier this week.
