Media Misses Again: Newt Gingrich Did Not Cancel Appearance at 9-11 Rally – He Was Never Scheduled to Speak

Several media outlets on Saturday reported that Newt Gingrich had canceled his appearance at the 9-11 Rally at Ground Zero.
The Hill reported:

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) will not be addressing a protest of the proposed mosque in lower Manhattan on the anniversary of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

The organizers of the rally, Stop Islamization of America and Freedom Defense Initiative, announced Gingrich as one of the event’s confirmed speakers on the Web last weekend.

But, once again the state-run media did not do their homework.
This is what I heard from Rick Tyler, Spokesman for Speaker Newt Gingrich, on Saturday:

Newt was never scheduled to appear at the rally, therefore he could never have been a “confirmed” speaker, therefore he could not have cancelled his appearance because there never was one. To report otherwise, as some have already, is dishonest.

He has been scheduled to premiere his new movie, America at Risk in Washington DC on September 11.
