There are plenty of reasons that Democrats are winning elections and dominating the right on the internet. This week Senate Democrats held their 3rd Annual Progressive Media Summit. Democratic senators met with liberal bloggers for five hours in Washington DC to discuss plans for the coming year and to answer questions.
Maybe Republicans ought to try this some time?
It’s not like the liberal media is helping the Republicans get their message out. That’s been obvious for a while now… like 20 years. Maybe GOP senators would like to try testing a community that will not filter their message? It would be worth a shot anyway. Wouldn’t you think?
Here’s what Daily Kos had to say about the 3rd Annual Progressive Media Summit:
On Wednesday, the Senate hosted the third annual Progressive Media Summit, where current Democratic Senators invite representatives from various progressive media outlets (including, but hardly limited to, Air America, MyDD, FireDogLake, Open Left, and Daily Kos), and held a series of panels to discuss the Senate’s plans for the coming year (and the coming Congress), and answer questions from progressive media.
Overall, the Senators are very optimistic about the opportunities afforded them by the Obama Administration and the expanded Senate majority…
Stabenow thanked progressive media for counteracting the Right Wing Noise machine, which she said remains a terror to this day, and may even be more bloodthirsty now that they’re in the minority.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar said the same, and noted that a member of the progressive media, Al Franken, will be a United States Senate colleague shortly.
Maybe GOP senators could look into holding a meeting like this sometime.
It’s worth a shot.
Patterico adds this:
Right-leaning bloggers are going to play a more important role during Obama’s administration than we did during Bush’s. Big Media “watchdogs” are now lapdogs. Obama is preparing to mortgage our children’s future with money for contraceptives, the NEA, pork, and other pet Democrat programs. Someone has to speak out. And based on what we’re seeing, it ain’t gonna be the press.
