Hezbollah TV, Al Manar, reports that President Emile Lahoud said that Israel has lost this war against Lebanon:
Lebanese President Emile Lahoud said that Israel has lost the war and the unity of the Lebanese gave this country victory. In a telephone call with the Al-Manar TV channel, Lahoud added that the United States must stop backing Israel against Lebanon and that there is nothing more to talk about except for an immediate ceasefire.
The president also said that during the UN Security Council meeting today, the US will face European pressure to tell it that freedom and democracy cannot be achieved through the killing of children, women and elderly. The President also said that the United States bares responsibility because it gave time to Israel to continue its aggression at a time it should have called for a ceasefire. “The US gave Israel smart bombs,” but they do not appear smart when you see what these bombs do. “Israel will now try to achieve in politics what it failed to achieve militarily and they will fail,” he added.
Interesting comments, if true. But, since they are coming from Hezbollah TV, who knows how much of this was actually said by the Lebanese president?
