Indian Intelligence Blames Osama-Linked Pakistani for Blasts
Indian Opposition leader, L K Advani, named international terrorist, Dawood Ibrahim, as the leader behind yesterday’s bombings.
Indian Officials suspect that Muslim Dawood Ibrahim may be involved in the Mumbai bombings from yesterday:
Indian intelligence officials have named a suspect they believe may be linked to the Mumbai rail blasts, according to a report on CNBC on Tuesday.
Officials quoted in the report say Dawood Ibrahim, an Indian Muslim with ties to al-Qaeda, was considered a suspect in the attacks.
The US treasury department designated Ibrahim as a terrorist as part of its international sanctions programme, CNBC said.
Ibrahim was accused of masterminding the 1993 blasts in Mumbai, India that killed 260:
Leader of Opposition and senior BJP leader L K Advani on Wednesday demanded that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim be brought to India to stand trial in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts case.
Suspecting the don’s role in yesterday’s serial blasts that killed at least 190 people besides injuring over 600, Advani said Dawood is to 7/11 what Osama bin Laden is to 9/11.
Indian Intelligence also believes the attacks were the work of the Osama-linked Dawood Ibrahim:
Indian intelligence believes the attacks on Mumbai’s commuter train network on Tuesday, killing scores during the evening rush hour, might be the work of Dawood Ibrahim, an Indian Muslim with ties to al-Qaida.
Ibrahim is believed to have been responsible for the 1993 attacks that killed 260 in Mumbai, India’s commercial hub formerly known as Bombay.
Two years ago, the U.S. Treasury Department designated Ibrahim as a terrorist as part of its international sanctions program — effectively forbidding U.S. financial entities from working with him and permitting seizure of any assets believed to be in his control.
