The Mullacracy Is Right: With Dems, US Cannot Finish a War

Iran issued bold threats against the US on Friday and sadly with the current state of the Democratic Party the statements from the mullacracy are hard to argue:

Iran said it could defeat any American military action over its controversial nuclear drive, in one of the Islamic regime’s boldest challenges yet to the United States.

“You can start a war but it won’t be you who finishes it,” said General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the head of the Revolutionary Guards and among the regime’s most powerful figures.

“The Americans know better than anyone that their troops in the region and in Iraq are vulnerable. I would advise them not to commit such a strategic error,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a pro-Palestinian conference in Tehran.

The United States accuses Iran of using an atomic energy drive as a mask for weapons development. Last weekend US news reports said President George W. Bush’s administration was refining plans for preventive strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

“I would advise them to first get out of their quagmire in Iraq before getting into an even bigger one,” General Safavi said with a grin.

“We have American forces in the region under total surveillance. For the past two years, we have been ready for any scenario, whether sanctions or an attack.”

At a Friday prayer sermon in Tehran, senior cleric Ayatollah Ahmad Janati simply branded the US as a “decaying power” lacking the “stamina” to block Iran’s ambitions.

And hardline President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told AFP that a US push for tough United Nations sanctions was of “no importance.”

“She is free to say whatever she wants,” the president replied when asked to respond to comments by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice highlighting part of the UN charter that provides for sanctions backed up by the threat of military action.

“We give no importance to her comments,” he said with a broad smile.

Since we’ve seen how the Democrats have reacted to the successful military campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan, it is hard to argue with the mullacracy on this one. Could you imagine how the Left would react to casualty numbers like Vietnam or Korea?

Senator Dianne Feinstein, the Moderate from California, agrees in today’s Los Angeles Times editorial.

Her talk is right in line with the rest of the Democratic Party. Wait and get blasted… Then attack. Pre-emption is wrong. We must join with the French, Germans, Russians, etc. who stabbed America and the world in the back in regards to Iraq. It is as if 9-11 never happened. Here is a “moderate” voice from the Democratic Party:

TEHRAN THIS WEEK claimed that it had enriched uranium, a first step toward nuclear weapons capability. The question now is whether the Bush administration has learned from its mistakes in Iraq, or will it set our nation on a road that leads to military confrontation with Iran?…

…The dangers inherent in preemptive action are only multiplied by reports that the administration may be considering first use of tactical, battlefield nuclear weapons in Iran: Specifically, nuclear “bunker busters” to try to take out deeply buried targets.

There are some in this administration who have been pushing to make nuclear weapons more “usable.” They see nuclear weapons as an extension of conventional weapons. This is pure folly.

So what steps should the United States be taking?

The U.S. should engage Iran diplomatically. So far, England, France and Germany have led the negotiated effort to halt Iran’s uranium enrichment, while Russia has explored other alternatives. It is time for the U.S. to lead such efforts, not stand by.

We must push for a complete halt to Iran’s enrichment activities and full access to all nuclear sites by the International Atomic Energy Agency. If Iran refuses, (it already has mnumerous times, Senator!) international sanctions should follow, and inspections with U.N. forces if necessary.

If you are a Jew in Israel, it looks like now may be the best time to think of relocating. Democrats are too anti-American and anti-war. They will storm the White House (via LGF) before they will allow an attack. It will be too late for the Jews before America with the current Democrats comes to aid you.

As commenter poiball put it the other day:

It’s already came to America:

No cartoons.
No Christmas.
No military recruiters.
No borders

Welcome Sharia!
