On January 15, Madison Brooks was standing in the middle of the street on Burbank Drive around 3 am when a driver struck her and killed her.
According to the arrest warrant, Brooks was reportedly drunk and slurring her words when she was seen leaving Reggie’s Bar near the LSU campus.
One of the male suspects told investigators that Madison Brooks was “very unstable on her feet, was not able to keep her balance, and was unable to speak clearly without slurring her words,” as she exited the bar.
Madison Brooks’ blood alcohol content was .319% according to the toxicology reports.
Casen Carver told investigators that Madison Brooks asked them for a ride home and supposedly consented to have sex with them.
A short time later Madison Brooks was dropped off where she was hit by a car and later died at the hospital.
Reggie’s bar released surveillance video of Madison Brooks leaving the establishment.
Defense attorneys argue Madison Brooks was chasing the men out of the bar and consented to sex.
One of the suspects told investigators that he believed Brooks was was too drunk to know she was consenting.
It was also reported this week that Kaivon Washington, one of the suspects charged with rape in the Madison Brooks case, was charged with first-degree rape for a separate incident.
“Kaivon Washington, one of the suspects arrested for the alleged rape of LSU student Madison Brooks, is now facing a first-degree rape charge in Livingston Parish for a separate alleged incident that took place in Walker in 2020.” WAFB reported.
“Detectives with the Walker Police Department issued an arrest warrant for Washington Friday, Jan. 27, after they say a witness came forward and corroborated details about an alleged incident that took place years ago.” the outlet reported.
