Christmas Nation: Poll Shows America’s Favorite Holiday Increasing In Popularity

Americans love Christmas.

According to a new Rasmussen poll, 60% of Americans consider Christmas to be one of the nation’s most important holidays.

Only 6% consider Christmas to be one of the least important.

Rasmussen reported:

Public opinion often changes, but year in and year out, Christmas remains America’s favorite holiday. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 60% of American Adults consider Christmas to be one of our nation’s most important holidays, up from 59% last year. Just six percent (6%) consider Christmas one of the least important holidays, while 29% place Christmas somewhere in between.

Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say Christmas is one of America’s most important holidays.

50% of adults say they plan to attend a religious service during the holiday season – this is up from last year.

Breitbart reported:

Half (50 percent) of adults say they plan to attend a religious service this holiday season, and increase from 44 percent last year. A little more than a third (34 percent) say they will not attend a religious service and 16 percent are unsure. Married Americans and people with children are more likely to give Christmas a higher ranking than unmarried and childless Americans.

By racial category, black people (59 percent) are more likely white people (48 percent) and other minorities (52 percent) to attend religious services during the holiday season. By political affiliation, Republicans (70 percent) are more likely than Democrats (60 percent) and unaffiliated voters (52 percent) to believe Christmas in one of the nation’s most important holidays.

Another poll found that most Americans view Jesus Christ and not Santa Claus as the meaning of Christmas.

The Gateway Pundit reported:

According to a recent survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports, the majority of Americans continue to believe that Jesus Christ, and not Santa Claus, is the true meaning of Christmas.

“Americans may be looking forward to a visit from the jolly fellow in the red suit, but most say Christmas is still about the baby born in Bethlehem,” according to Rasmussen Reports.

According to a recent phone and online poll survey, 57% of American adults agree that Jesus Christ should be the focus of Christmas rather than Santa Claus. Only 22% believed Santa Claus should be the focus, while 20% were undecided.

Rasmussen Reports said “the survey of 1,000 American Adults was conducted on December 8 and 11, 2022 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research.”
