MORE REACTION: The Pro-Abortion Left Comes Unglued As Roe v. Wade Is Overturned

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the 1972 landmark ruling on Roe V Wade, abolishing federal access to abortion and returning the governance of the procedure to individual states.

As a result of the ruling, at least 22 states now make abortion illegal, with few exceptions.

The ruling has sparked a fierce reaction from the left and pro-abortion supporters across the nation. Politicians, Journalists, Celebrities, and Influencers who align with the ideals of killing unborn children began sharing their opinions on social media Friday.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi clarified her opinion: “Because of Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Party, and their supermajority on the Supreme Court, American women today have less freedom than their mothers.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “Today is one of the darkest days our country has ever seen. Millions upon millions of American women are having their rights taken from them by five unelected Justices on the extremist MAGA court.”

New York’s Attorney General, Leticia James, said it was “one of the darkest moments in the history of this nation.” and vowed to keep New York as a haven for those seeking an abortion.

Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff said, “The Court’s decision to overturn Roe endangers women everywhere, by taking away their right to make their own health care choices. This Court isn’t conservative – it’s partisan, with a socially backward agenda. They can’t be trusted to protect our rights, so the Congress must.”

Hardcore Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez followed suit, weighing in with her opinion, criticizing the court for the ruling. She said, “Overturning Roe and outlawing abortions will never make them go away. It only makes them more dangerous, especially for the poor + marginalized. People will die because of this decision. And we will never stop until abortion rights are restored in the United States of America.”

Liberal Activist Shaun King, in usual fashion, shared his thoughts on Friday’s ruling. He said, “Overturning Roe has nothing to do with conservatives loving babies or children. Or pregnant mothers. Or their safety. Or their health. They don’t care even a little bit about ANY of those things. It’s all about power & control.”

Television host Jon Stewart referred to yesterday’s ruling on gun rights and said, “Perhaps Roe can be salvaged if women reclassify their vaginas as holsters.”

Former President Barak Obama said, “For more than a month, we’ve known this day was coming—but that doesn’t make it any less devastating.” He published an article with his thoughts regarding the ruling.

Democratic Senator Jeff Jackson of North Carolina wrote, “This election is now about who will defend the freedom of women to make their own choices over their own bodies. I’ll vote to codify Roe and protect the rights they’ve had for 50 years. Taking this freedom away is wrong.”

Actor and far-left activist George Takei wrote, “Roe isn’t the end, folks. Just the tip of the iceberg.” and went on to say, “America, I weep for you.”

Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia said, “The Supreme Court’s misguided decision to overturn Roe v. Wade is devastating for women and families in Georgia and nationwide.”

The hard-left Senator Ed Markey said, “The Supreme Court has overruled Roe v. Wade, executing a decades-long, far-right plot to destroy the constitutional right to abortion and forever eroding any semblance of legitimacy this stolen Court once held. There can be no question now that we must expand the Supreme Court.”

Former Ohio State Senator Nina Turner offered a more harsh response to Friday’s ruling, saying, “F*** the Senate for not abolishing the filibuster to codify Roe.”

MSNBC host Julian Castro spoke out, saying, “A radical Court has again destroyed longstanding precedent to further its right-wing, extremist agenda. We must do two things: Restructure the Court and codify Roe.”

Writer Adam Best had a scathing response to the ruling. He said,, “The illegitimate Supreme Court can go straight to hell. Infuriating that the “keep government out of our lives” party spent 40 years scheming to control women’s bodies when 69% of the country did not want Roe overturned. These fascists have no regard for the will of the people.”

Pennsylvania’s Lt. Governor John Fetterman vowed to fight the ruling. On Friday, he said, “It is unjust. It is wrong. And I’m going to fight it with everything I’ve got. Send me to the U.S. Senate, and I’d *proudly* vote to codify Roe v. Wade into law.”

Journalist Phillip Lewis from The Huffington Post said that Friday’s ruling turns “the clock back generations on reproductive freedom in the United States.”

Former first lady Michelle Obama released a statement on Friday in response to the ruling. In it, she said she is “heartbroken” for those impacted by the ruling. She goes on to lament the lives of “teenaged” girls who are impacted by pregnancy and would not be able to “finish school or live the life” they want. She said without the choice to kill an unborn child; many would be carrying an undue “burden.”

Drag queen celebrity and former contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Shea Coulee, said, “Roe V Wade being overturned by the Supreme Court is so disgusting. I am so ashamed of the direction that this country is going. This blatant hate for women’s rights is so unbelievably concerning and heartbreaking.”

No doubt that in the coming days, there will be even more harsh reactions to the Court’s ruling.
