Far-Left Democratic California Governor Gavin Newsom Joins Trump’s Truth Social To Troll Republicans

On Thursday, California’s Democratic Governor, Gavin Newsom, announced he had joined former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform to call out what he says are “Republican lies.”

“I know we’re all on this platform in search for the truth,” Newsom said in a video. “But the truth is I’ve not been able to find a simple explanation for the fact that we have a red state murder problem.”

Newsom went on to note that Republican officials run eight out of the top ten states with the highest murder rates, which he said was hypocritical concerning gun laws.

He said the “question is simple. What are the laws and policies in those states that are leading to such carnage?”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Mississippi has the highest homicide mortality rate in the country, followed by Louisiana, Alabama, Missouri, Arkansas, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland, Illinois, and New Mexico. California was 31st on the list.

Critics of Newsom pointed out that while those are red states, the cities with the violent crime issues are Democrat-led.

One person on Twitter said, “Weirdly, most happen in cities that Democrats have EXCLUSIVELY controlled for a generation or two … or six.”

His comments in the video come as several California cities run by progressives have come under fire for rising crime rates and “soft-on-crime” policies.

Last week, San Francisco voters had their voices heard when they successfully recalled liberal District Attorney Chesa Boudin. Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon also faces a recall effort over his liberal policies and soft-on-crime approach.

In an interview last week, Newsom called Boudin’s recall “predictable” and said it wasn’t an “arbiter of something farther reaching.”

“I think the issue in San Francisco, in particular, is people want the streets cleaned up – period. Full stop. Enough,” he told FOX 11. “They want the streets cleaned up. They want a sense of order from the disorder they’re feeling on the streets.”

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon has come under fire this week after a suspect on probation killed two El Monte police officers. The shooter received a lenient sentence through a plea deal after he pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Other users spoke up, calling out Newsom for the soaring homelessness issues that have impacted cities across California amid the insufferable cost of living in the state.
