Arizona Representative and Candidate for Arizona Secretary State, Mark Finchem Says SCOTUS Decision Reinforces the Power of State’s Rights

Arizona Representative and candidate for Arizona Secretary of State, Mark Finchem released his thoughts on today’s SCOTUS action regarding Roe v. Wade.

Finchem agrees with the court’s decision and believes that the issue of abortion is where it belongs, with the states.

Finchem shared:

– In a 6-3 ruling announced today, the United States Supreme Court overturned its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, effectively ending recognition of a constitutional right to abortion, and returning the power and authority to allow, limit, or ban abortion back to individual states.

Justice Alito wrote the majority opinion saying, “We end this opinion where we began. Abortion presents a profound moral question. The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives.
