Trump’s Approval Ratings Remain High in Battleground States, Biden’s Continue to Decline

Former President Trump is polling very well in key battleground states, as Joe Biden’s approval rating continues to downward spiral.

According Morning Consult surveys conducted in March and published on Monday, roughly four in five Republican voters in the early primary states of Georgia, North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania hold favorable opinions about Trump.

“Across each of the four early primary states, the former president is more popular than other prominent GOP figures, including: Vice President Mike Pence, who’s seen positive sentiment decline across the map since January 2021; Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who is most polarizing among the GOP electorate; and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who is still largely unknown to the rank and file,” the pollsters reported.

The report added, “the majority (57%) say Trump should continue to play a ‘major role’ in the GOP, compared with 20% who say he should play a minor role and just 16% who say he should play no role at all.”

They found that Trump’s popularity in the four states has remained virtually unchanged since he left office.

On the same day that this survey was released, Biden’s approval rating fell to its lowest point, 42 percent, according to a new CBS News and YouGov poll.

The Hill reports:

“Respondents in the new survey gave the president the worst marks for his handling of inflation, which has skyrocketed in recent months and is affecting Americans at grocery stores and gas pumps. Thirty-one percent of respondents said they approve of the way Biden is handling inflation, while 69 percent said they disapprove of it.

Annual inflation reached 7.9 percent in March — the highest rate since 1982 — which has caused prices to increase.

Biden also received low marks when it came to his handling of the economy generally. Thirty-seven percent of respondents said they approve of his management of the economy, compared to 63 percent who said they disapprove.”
