EXCLUSIVE: DC Police Suspend Intelligence Officer For Attempting to Prevent Fights Between Antifa and Proud Boys

UPDATE: A GiveSendGo fundraiser has been launched by his wife to help support Lamond and his family during this time.

DC Metropolitan Police Officer Shane Lamond has been suspended and appears to be under criminal investigation for attempting to prevent clashes between Proud Boys and members of Antifa.

Lieutenant Lamond has been with the department for approximately 20 years and working in intelligence for the last four years, according to his LinkedIn.

Prior to being released from jail, Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was visited by prosecutors asking for information about Lamond.

On Monday, Lamond was suspended — apparently for attempting to coordinate with Tarrio when Proud Boys were going to be in the city — also known as good policing.

Instead of celebrating that Lamond has worked with both sides to know where they will be and keep them apart, potentially saving property and lives, he is now being slandered as having ties to a “hate group.”

Speaking to the Gateway Pundit, Tarrio explained that he was simply trying to do the right thing by letting police know where they would be.

“There’s this giant conspiracy to catch anyone ‘involved,’ but we have got to a point where police doing police work is wrong. The only relationship I had with him has been professional — him trying to keep the peace, keep people safe and let them express their protected First Amendment rights,” Tarrio said. “There’s no conspiracy here. There were no controversial conversations.”

Tarrio said that there were never conversations in which the line was crossed beyond him attempting to work with the DC police to prevent violence.

“Every time we go somewhere, whether it’s DC or Portland, we call local law enforcement to let them know. This is why people have called me an informant. I work with law enforcement to keep our people safe when we go somewhere,” Tarrio said. “This is going to cause people to not want to work with police, and will lead to protesters and counter-protesters fighting with each other.”

Tarrio added, “where was his department when four of my people got stabbed? What about when Bevelyn Beattie and I got slashed — those people were never caught. Why not suspend the cops who weren’t there to do their job?”

A GiveSendGo fundraiser has been launched by his wife to help support Lamond and his family during this time.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Chief Robert Contee held an extremely vague press conference about the situation. He said that he does not know “for sure” if Lamond, who he did not name, actually acted inappropriately.
