Olympic athletes who tested positive with COVID-19 and were forced to isolate at Beijing Winter Olympics were complaining over the poor living conditions in quarantine facilities set up by Chinese officials.

Team officials from Germany, Belgium, and Russia said their athletes were facing nightmarish situations, like poor to no internet connection, bad food, no training equipment, and dirty rooms, NPR reported.

“My stomach hurts, I’m very pale and I have huge black circles around my eyes. I want all this to end. I cry every day. I’m very tired, said Vasnetsova on her social media.

It was the food that she had a problem with not the symptoms from the virus and it’s making her feel weak to compete.

After athletes’ complaints, officials from the Beijing Organizing Committee said they’re now addressing complaints about isolation conditions for athletes infected with COVID-19.

AP reported:

Olympic organizers say they’re addressing complaints about isolation conditions for athletes who test positive for the coronavirus and are working to ensure they have clean rooms, better food and access to training equipment and the internet.

“These are exactly the kind of things we have to address. It’s a duty. It’s a responsibility. We have to make sure that the expectations are met,” said Christophe Dubi, the International Olympic Committee’s executive director for the games.

Dubi said Sunday that organizers will work to ensure “everything is perfect” for athletes waiting to be released. Han Zirong of the Beijing Organizing Committee also noted that athletes who test positive will now be able to order food from the Olympic Village and have it delivered to their isolation rooms.
