First Oath Keeper to Plead Guilty in Jan 6 Charges, Including “Document Tampering” For Deleting Facebook Account

Graydon Young, a 54-year-old from Florida who was charged in a 16-person conspiracy case related to the Capitol riot, will plead guilty Wednesday.

Young, a member of the Oath Keepers, was hit with 6 counts, including conspiracy and aiding and abetting the obstruction of the congressional proceeding, CNN reported.

He was also previously charged with document tampering after he deleted his Facebook account two days after January 6 – months before the feds interviewed him!

Federal prosecutors claim Young participated in the “stack” military formation of Oath Keepers that “cut through the crowd to move inside the Capitol.”

CNN reported:

Graydon Young, a 54-year-old from Florida who went by “GenXPatriot,” is charged in a 16-person conspiracy case alleging members of the Oath Keepers plotted to carry out the January 6 insurrection

It is the first guilty plea among any defendants in the major Capitol riot conspiracy cases and is a significant development as investigators continue to pursue leads on extremist groups that they believe planned for an armed attack to help then-President Donald Trump and stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election.

It’s not yet known if Young will agree to cooperate in cases going forward, but it is likely he has spoken to investigators as part of obtaining his deal.

He is currently charged with six crimes, including conspiracy and aiding and abetting the obstruction of the congressional proceeding. Those may be reduced to fewer counts with his plea deal.

Prosecutors also previously charged him with document tampering after he allegedly deleted his Facebook account two days after the riot.

Young’s co-defendants in the case are contesting their charges.

Kellye SoRelle, general counsel to the Oath Keepers provided a statement to The Gateway Pundit:

It is unfortunate that people are accepting plea offers and I hope they are accepting plea agreements with all potentially exculpatory evidence being provided by the DOJ. Specifically, information relating to the DOJ’s failures in preparing the capitol police per the Senate report, the identities of the Capitol Police, who disengaged the magnetic locks and all of the video footage from January 6th- including the orange tape team, black bloc and the green tape team.

The refusal to agree to pre trial release for those charged is unethical and coercive in nature. The DOJ is not seeking justice, they are seeking to destroy the American spirit by holding those charged as political prisoners.

The DOJ should be focused on all criminal behavior surrounding the 2020 election, including the acts from both sides of the aisle.
