UPDATE Suspect Armed With Knife, Shot by Police After Ramming Barrier : U.S. Capitol on Lockdown After Car Crashes Barrier (Two Police Officers Injured)

The U.S. Capitol is under a lockdown after a car crashed into a security barrier near the building located on Constitution Avenue. A Congressional reporter posted a copy of the alert sent out as well as video of the police response as seen from the East Front of the Capitol on the House side.

Keeping the earlier updates for the record. Latest update at 2 p.m.: Driver rammed barrier on Senate side, exited vehicle armed with a knife.

Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich reported a car crashed into a barrier, “Appears that a car smashed into the barrier. Two people are on stretchers. Can’t see whether it’s an officer or civilian”

Update via Capitol Police, “CRITICAL INCIDENT: USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers. A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three have been transported to the hospital.”
