McConnell Blasts Democrats After Senate Rejects New Witnesses…Then Says ‘Trial Will Conclude in the Coming Days’

Mitch McConnell

In a huge win for Trump and his defense team, the senate voted against impeachment witnesses in a 51-49 vote on Friday afternoon.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blasted the Democrats after the vote.

“A majority of the U.S. Senate has determined that the numerous witnesses and 28,000-plus pages of documents already in evidence are sufficient to judge the House Managers’ accusations and end this impeachment trial.” McConnell said.

“There is no need for the Senate to re-open the investigation which the House Democratic majority chose to conclude and which the Managers themselves continue to describe as “overwhelming” and “beyond any doubt.” McConnell added.

McConnell, however said he will meet with the House managers and President Trump’s counsel to determine the next steps moving forward “to conclude the trial in the coming days.”

Coming days??

Fox News reporter Chad Pergram said one reason for the hold up is that some senators are arguing the need for them to debate the articles of impeachment on the Senate floor.

Schumer is behind this. He argued Friday morning that he wants every senator to explain their impeachment vote.

McConnell should immediately hold the vote to acquit president Trump and put an end to this sham now!

The State of the Union Address is scheduled for next Tuesday so McConnell is purposely pushing the president’s acquittal until after the SOTU address!

At the time of this publication, there has been no discussion about postponing the SOTU.

Update: Plan for Senate trial. No weekend session. Vote on several Dem proposals. Closing arguments by counsel Monday. Senators can debate impeachment on Monday/Tuesday. Vote on verdicts on both articles of impeachment next Wednesday.
