Biden Calls Marijuana ‘Gateway Drug.’ Ocasio-Cortez Blasts Him.

Joe Biden is 76, which means he was already in his mid-to-late 20s when the sexual and drug revolution hit in the 1960s and 1970s. Plus, he was lawyer back then, too (squaresville, man).

So the former vice president is not among all the hard-left liberals demanding the legalization of  marijuana.

“The truth of the matter is, there’s not nearly been enough evidence that has been acquired as to whether or not it is a gateway drug,” Biden said, using a phrase first popularized in the 1930s after the release of the now-cult movie “Reefer Madness.”

“It’s a debate, and I want a lot more before I legalize it nationally,” he said. “I want to make sure we know a lot more about the science behind it.”

States across the U.S. have legalized marijuana, even though there are numerous reports that pot is injurious to young people.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, 78, said Biden is wrong. “The criminalization of marijuana has been a disaster. We are going to legalize it, expunge past convictions and invest in communities of color that have been devastated by the War on Drugs,” he wrote on Twitter.

Sanders said he would legalize weed by executive action within his first 100 days in office.

Enter Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the hip former bartender from Brooklyn. The 29-year-old agrees with Sanders.

“Marijuana should be legalized, and drug consumption should be decriminalized,” she wrote on Twitter. “These are matters of public health.”
