Police Officer Shot and Killed in DC Suburb, Shooter Remains on the Loose — Schools on Lockdown

A multi-agency manhunt is under way for a suspect who fatally shot a police officer on Monday morning in the DC suburb of Silver Spring, Maryland.

Montgomery County police officer TJ Bomba was found shot after officers were called to a parking garage in the busy shopping area of downtown Silver Spring to investigate reports of “disorderly subjects,” according to a report from Fox 5.

No suspects have been taken into custody over the shooting. There is no public information about the suspect or suspects descriptions or even how many people were involved.

Multiple agencies are now involved in the manhunt. Fox 5 reports that Montgomery County Captain Thomas Jordan said, “to describe this as an all hands on deck operation would be an understatement.”

East Silver Spring Elementary School, Sligo Creek Elementary School, and Silver Spring International Middle School were all placed on lock down as the search continued into the afternoon. Classes are continuing and the schools are still open to parents.
