Anita Hill Says She is Ready to ‘Hold Joe Biden Accountable’

Anita Hill has said that she is now ready to “hold Joe Biden accountable” for his treatment of her during Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearing.

Hill made the remarks at the Citizen by CNN conference on Thursday.

“Have I forgiven Joe Biden? I’m ready to move on, but I am also ready to hold Joe Biden accountable. Accountability means acknowledging your role in the problem and the harm it’s caused. Acknowledging that you have culpability and are a part of it,” Hill said. “Giving me clear information that you have made a change and that you are going to do something to make us all better off around gender discrimination,” she added.

Biden has long faced backlash from fellow Democrats, particularly in the black community, for his behavior during the hearing which many believe was accusatory and didn’t do enough to protect Hill from very tough questioning from his Republican colleagues.

Hill has been vocal about how she has not forgiven Biden for the way he handled the hearings, even after the former Vice President called her to talk about his role in the highly publicized Kavanaugh’esque saga. She said she would not consider what he said during the call an “apology.”

“I cannot be satisfied by simply saying ‘I’m sorry for what happened to you,'” Hill told The New York Times. “I will be satisfied when I know there is real change and real accountability and real purpose.”

Biden’s wife has also been outspoken in defense of her husband, saying that Hill and others who continue to bring it up need to “move on.”
