YIKES: Picture Surfaces of Justin Trudeau Wearing Brownface at 2001 ‘Arabian Nights’ Party

A newly surfaced photograph shows Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dressed in brownface at a 2001 “Arabian Nights” party.

The photo, obtained by Time Magazine, shows the Prime Minister wearing the inappropriate costume at an event held by West Point Grey Academy, the private school where he was teaching at the time.

Trudeau is wearing a turban and robes with his face and hands covered in dark makeup in the yearbook photo, which was provided to Time by Vancouver businessman Michael Adamson.

This isn’t the first time this year that yearbook photos have made trouble for a preachy and popular leftist politician. In March, a yearbook photo from the 1980’s showed Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and a friend wearing blackface and KKK costumes.

Zita Astravas, the media relations lead of the Liberal Party of Canada, confirmed that the photo is of Trudeau.

“It was a photo taken while he was teaching in Vancouver, at the school’s annual dinner which had a costume theme of ‘Arabian Nights.’ He attended with friends and colleagues dressed as a character from Aladdin,” Astravas told Time.

The Prime Minister is said to be planning on addressing the photo publicly on Wednesday evening.
