‘America First’ GOP Congressional Candidate Joey Saladino Posts Hilarious Parody of Democratic Debate

New York Republican Congressional candidate Joey Saladino has posted a hilarious video parodying the Democratic debate.

Saladino’s “Honest Democrat Debate” features him as a moderator, not holding back at all against the 2020 candidates.

Saladino starts off with Sanders, saying, “Senator Sanders, despite never having a real job before, you plan on taking over the American economy and bankrupting this country just to end climate change? Is that right?”

The hilarious video next cuts to Julián Castro, who immediately begins speaking in Spanish.

“Wait wait wait — Castro, this is the American presidential debate. This is not the Mexico one,” Saladino interjects, before asking about his brother doxing Trump supporters.

When he gets to Andrew Yang, he shows the candidate offering to give ten families $1,000 a month for a year.

“Sorry everybody, apparently Yang thinks this is a Mr. Beast YouTube giveaway video and not a presidential debate,” Saladino jokes.

The video also mocks Elizabeth Warren, “bugeyed” Cory Booker, and Joe Biden.

Speaking to the Gateway Pundit about this video and others, Saladino said that he likes to make points with humor. He is well-known for his comedic videos running pranks on unsuspecting strangers.

Saladino is the first prominent YouTuber to run for office in the United States. He has nearly 2.5 million followers on YouTube and Facebook, as well as 82,000 on Twitter. According to a statement from his campaign, his work gets over one billion views on social media per year.

“I do these videos because I have an expertise and knowledge in this area due to my YouTube background,” Saladino said. “I like making points and reaching people using humor.”

Saladino said that he has had many people tell him that his comedic videos will not help his campaign and that he needs to be more professional, but he disagrees. Just this week Donald Trump Jr. retweeted another one of his videos mocking CNN. He believes the comedy has been an “incredible net positive” for his campaign.

The popular YouTuber and Staten Island native is running in New York’s 11th District against Never-Trump, pro-DACA, anti-wall Republican Nicole Malliotakis.

In 2017, while she was running for mayor against Bill de Blasio, Malliotakis said that she had voted for Trump because he was the nominee, but wished she had wrote in Marco Rubio instead.

“I’d write in Marco Rubio…I’d write in Marco Rubio so that I could tell you I voted Marco Rubio,” Malliotakis told the Daily News about what she would do if she had a chance to change her vote.

Malliotakis’ stated reasons for disliking Trump sound more like a liberal Democrat’s than a Republican’s: “his proposed ban on transgender service members, his plans to suspend DACA, his promise to build a border wall and his travel ban.”

NeverTrumper Malliotakis also discussed her voter’s remorse on camera with Spectrum News NY1.

Now that she needs the support of the pro-Trump Republican base, she has drastically changed her tune — often praising the president in public comments. She seems to be hoping that Republican primary voters forget her radically anti-Trump positions.

On the other hand, Saladino lists slowing economic opportunity for the area’s youth, ever increasing taxes, and the growing opioid addiction crisis as some of the top issues he will be addressing with his campaign.

Saladino is also suing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for blocking him on Twitter following a decision from the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals that President Donald Trump cannot block people on social media because it is a public forum.

Ocasio-Cortez blocked Saladino in May, shortly after he announced his candidacy, according to a press release from his campaign.

“I’m suing AOC because we need to be able to have a strong and vigorous debate between the parties, otherwise our fragile system of ideas and representation breaks down,” Saladino said. “Though she is not in a position of power, she is the voice of her generation of Democrat voters, and bigger than some of the Presidential candidates.”
