Last Week, when Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez visited housing facilities for foreigners who illegally cross into the United States, she broke off from a group of officials and other lawmakers to chat with some detainees.
Afterward — at a press conference outside the facility in El Paso, Texas — Ocasio-Cortez told a throng of cameras that the detainees told her they were being forced to drink out of toilets.
That claim was mostly debunked within hours, but of course, the mainstream media has carried few of those reports, instead simply repeating what AOC claimed without an ounce of proof.
But now, that story line can be put to bed once and for all.
Agent Roy Villareal, the Tuscon vector chief of the Arizona branch of the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), posted a video last week that was overlooked by many (sadly, us included). Villareal walked viewers through the facility and into a holding unit, where he showed how residents there can access water.
“Aliens are not forced to drink out of a toilet. Aliens have options. Fresh water is provided on a regular basis in a water cooler,” Villareal said.
The agent then demonstrated how a toilet with a sink attached above and behind it dispenses water, noting that a sign in Spanish says “potable water.”
“There is also water that is provided in … this is a combination of a toilet and sink and the sink provides fresh water,” he said. Drinking the cup of water he had just tapped, he added: “There’s nothing wrong with this water. We’re not forcing aliens to drink water out of a toilet.”

In the video, Villareal also shows viewers that those held in the facilities have access to food and snacks, clothing — for adults and children — as well as feminine hygiene products and toothbrushes.
After her visit, though, Ocasio-Cortez told reporters, “There’s abuse in these facilities…this was [CBP] on their best behavior and they put them in a room with no running water and these women were being told my CBP officers to drink out of the toilet. They were drinking water out of the toilet.”
“Just left the 1st CBP facility,” she wrote on Twitter. Officers were keeping women in cells w/ no water & had told them to drink out of the toilets.”
The Washington Examiner reported that an agent “said the congresswoman misrepresented why a person in custody had drunk from a toilet.”
“So this is what happened with the migrant and drinking water from toilet: she wanted water, didn’t know how to use the faucet in the cell, and drank from the toilet. She never told AOC that we made her drink from the toilet. AOC, of course, changed it … This was when she [the migrant] was apprehended and brought into the facility,” according to the agent.
AOC repeated the claim over and over, then backtracked.
This was in fact the type of toilet we saw in the cell.
Except there was just one, and the sink portion was not functioning – @AyannaPressley smartly tried to open the faucet, and nothing came out.
So the women were told they could drink out of the bowl. https://t.co/rcu9Rt6B2x

Now you know the truth. But don’t look for the MSM to correct their repeated errors.
