SHOCK DATA: Trump Has Raised More Money in Liberal-as-Heck California Than Most Democratic Candidates

Californians have donated $3.2 million to President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign since the start of 2019 — which is more than all of his Democratic challengers, except two.

The state is widely considered to be heavily liberal, but according to campaign finance data compiled by the organisation CalMatter, at least 92.8 percent of his pile of donations were made by small donors contributing less than $100.

“The president bested even Democratic contender Bernie Sanders in the small-donor sweepstakes,” CalMatter noted.

The only two candidates who have pulled in more from the state are Senator Kamala Harris and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The president even beat out former Vice President Joe Biden and Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

“Trump’s 2019 haul puts him ahead of the entire Democratic field, with two exceptions. Sen. Kamala Harris has raised over $7.5 million in her home state since January 1 and Pete Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, has received over $4.8 million in California cash,” the report explains.

According to a Quinnipiac University poll released this week, 35% of California voters approve of the president’s job performance.
