BRING IN THE ROBOTS: Rep. Rashida Tlaib Calls for a $20 Minimum Wage

Far-left Rep. Rashida Tlaib is now calling for a $20 an hour minimum wage, which would be absolutely crushing for smaller businesses.

Rep. Tlaib made the remarks at an event for the One Fair Wage campaign, which seeks to “pass legislation in cities and states that will require the restaurant industry to pay all its employees at least the full minimum wage.”

Many Democrats have come out in support of raising the minimum wage to $15, but that isn’t good enough for Rep. Tlaib.

“By the way, when we started it, it should have been $15. Now I think it should be $20 — make sure America Rising hears that. It should be $20 an hour, $18 to $20 an hour at this point,” Rep. Tlaib said. They say all of this is going to raise the cost, but I can tell you, milk has gone up, eggs has gone up, everything has gone up.”

The Free Beacon notes that “the accuracy of Tlaib’s claim about the price of eggs going up depends on the type of egg, but in general, egg prices have fallen since a peak in 2015. An avian flu outbreak impacted egg production that year, causing prices to spike.”

“The price of milk has also fluctuated over the past 10 years. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average price has decreased since a peak in 2014. It has increased over the course of 2019, however. The price of dairy products depends on the U.S. state in which the consumer is making the purchase,” the Free Beacon report continued.

Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders, who has long championed a $15 minimum wage, recently cut his own staff’s hours over their request to be paid that exact amount.
